aadler: (RV)

Susan and I spent long enough exercising caution over our expenditures, we managed to save enough to go car-shopping. We expected to have to spend some time looking around, but the first place we checked had something that matched what we wanted, and we quickly found ourselves the owner of a not-quite-new Toyota Camry. (The whole process went a lot more quickly because we didn’t have to finance, instead handing over a cashier’s check for the full amount.) We’re waiting till May to license it, so that we can have it and our motorhome both renew in the same month.

The whole point of trading in our current vehicle was to get one that we could pull behind the motorhome with a tow dolly, so Susan can ride with me instead of having to follow separately. Well, when I was walking the dog yesterday I saw a tow dolly behind one of the larger RVs in the park where we’re staying, and when I knocked on the door, the owner was happy to answer a few questions about costs and operation, so it really should be possible for us to set it up before we’re due to move out again. (Maybe the first of June, maybe just a bit later.) I mean, there’s still the process of finding a suitable dolly, and getting the necessary wire bundle so the tail-lights will operate along with those of the motorhome … more than a bit of hassle, honestly, but that was where we were originally headed before we found our now-former car couldn’t be towed at all without a full dolly. Once it’s all done, everything should be a lot simpler.

Getting there a bit at a time. It’s a process.
