Remix recs
Jun. 29th, 2015 11:24 amAfter a little time to go browsing through this year’s RemixRedux offerings, I have some recs to make. I didn’t try to read everything, I just 1) looked to see what was done for me, 2) looked to see what was done for various people I know and like, and 3) checked what was available in the fandoms that interested or intrigued me. The result:
Buffyverse stories
- “One to Go (the Junior Watcher Remix)”, of course. The remix done for me, but well worth reading even if it had nothing to do with me. As I mentioned already, it left me wishing for more, always a sign that someone has found a rich vein of possibilities.
- “Unintended Consequences (the Ghost in the Shell Remix)”, for
eilandesq. Ingenious application of an Eiland short to a later and larger event.
- “Just Can’t Kill the Beast (the Green, Green, My Jealous Heart Remix)”, for
sevendeadlyfun. Faith drops in for a visit while Buffy’s away, with unexpected results.
- “Letters Never Sent (the Crumpled Sheets Remix)”, for
texanfan. Short, awful, and hopeless. Just thinking about it still hurts. Read it.
Non-Buffyverse stories
- the Cutting Edge – “Love is Not a Victory March (the ‘Broken Hallelujah’ Remix)”, for
n_e_star. After the medal ceremony, then what?
- Batman (comics) – “Always Another One (the Robin Recruitment Remix)”, for Havisham (
moetushie). Snippets of how the GCPD feels about the Bat’s stream of sidekicks.
- Good Omens/Arthurian mythology – “the Pendragon-Gorlois Family Reunion (the Historically Inaccurate Remix)”, for
daegaer. The best of the bunch, funny and believable and strongly evocative of my own memories of “Good Omens”.
