Latest from the home front
Jun. 15th, 2015 09:39 pmMy work wound up overbudget for employee hours, so my own hours will be reduced for the last two weeks of June. I’m not the only one being cut back, or even the one feeling the pinch most keenly. Hopefully, this month will be enough to bring things back into line. (And, thankfully, mine is supplementary income, most of our budget is covered by Susan’s pay.)
Susan herself was sick at home for several days. She had a UTI that upgraded to a kidney infection, and convalesced while dosing with Cipro. It was more serious than I realized at the time, because I trusted her professional assessment of her own condition and — though neither of us realized it at the time — she was fuzzled enough not to recognize all the pertinent signs until the worst of it had passed. I did what I could to make up for that by bringing her a half-dozen servings of egg drop soup, which she’d been craving. She’s back at work now, and seems to be fully recovered.

And, in China, my first grandchild will be arriving in roughly a month. That’s a strange kind of feeling, one I will hopefully experience several times more in the coming years.
And that’s the way it is.
