I’m currently attending a family reunion, just barely out-of-state. It’s my wife’s family, but since mine doesn’t actually do reunions, this serves as a decent substitute. There was a collection of photo albums from previous years; they started the year before I first married Susan, and so roughly cover our shared history.

I saw a photo of our first appearance together. She was so thin, and I had so much hair. (Not long hair, but roughly three times as much as my scalp will currently support.) There was another of our daughter’s first appearance, at three months of age: faintly cross-eyed, and still looking a bit stunned at finding herself out in the world. And it goes, and goes … Damn it, the Eighties were yesterday, they’re not supposed to be nearly thirty years ago!

(There was, of course, a ten-year stretch when I didn’t appear in any photos. But, once our kids started showing up, I was more concerned with seeing them than myself anyhow.)

Four dogs, being boarded for the weekend. (The two cats can deal with themselves. They’ve done it before.)

Bought a bottle of White Zinfandel at Walmart. So this evening, too, is taken care of.
