Ireland/China 2025, continuing (48)

Thirty-eighth day in China – July 28 Monday

I got up just after 8:30AM, Susan almost immediately afterward. She wanted to go out for breakfast; we went to a nearby place called Luckin Coffee, which she had seen and wanted to try. A lot of coffee shops — such as Baker & Spice, and Susan said the same is true of Starbucks — have pastries or even small entrées available; not this spot, so we just got coffee and went back up to the apartment, where I made my standard noodles for breakfast and Susan had waffle cookies. (She said the coffee was really good, though.)

We let Mei‑li know early that we were planning on staying in and relaxing today, so she could tell her father not to cook for us. Somewhat past noon, I crossed the street to Baker & Spice and brought back a couple of sandwiches for our lunch.

In the mid-afternoon I settled in, found my groove, and turned out more than 1,600 words on my granddaughter-birthday fic, finally completing the initial draft. I read it aloud to Susan (she liked it, but she approves of most of my stuff), then sent Kevin a quick note to contact me and I’d give him a link so he could proofread it for local accuracy.

Susan and I had already had our supper, supplies from our apartment kitchen. She lay down to rest for a bit, and when she got up again we said our Rosary for today.

Reading and video-viewing till time for bed.
