Thirty-seventh day in China – July 27 Sunday

Susan and I did an unremarkable breakfast when I got up, and relaxed during the morning. She’d traded a few messages with Kevin, but nothing had been made explicit. Even so, I went on and got a shower and was about to start dressing when he knocked on our door.

So, that worked out. He wanted to grab a quick lunch before we headed for church, so we ate at the McDonald’s downstairs. (I’ve got food there any number of times, but this was the first time I can remember us actually sitting at a table and having a meal.) Then on to St. Thérèse of Lisieux for Sunday Mass. There was barely enough time before the service began for Susan and me to go through a Rosary (though she got to talking to the organist and didn’t finish, while I rushed to make sure I got mine in).

Once that was done, the three of us got a cab back to Kevin’s apartment. The latest word was that Ruby spends so much time nursing that I might not get to see her, but the nanny managed to pick a time when the baby was done and settling in for a nap, and I was able to spend a few minutes looking her over before it was time for the next item on the schedule, which was her bath.

Over to the Yins’ with Kevin, and we had our dinner with them. Amber showed up after the meal, and we’d had enough opportunity to talk with Kevin at his apartment and at his in-laws’, so we weren’t feeling neglected by the point when we headed back for our own lodgings.

Routine reading and relaxation for the rest of the evening. Susan was ready for bed by 11:30PM; I stayed up just a bit longer than that.
