Nineteenth day in China – July 9 Wednesday

I got up 8:00 or 8:30AM, Susan already up. At Susan’s request, I went down to the 7-Eleven and bought some soft drinks for us, and we had a casual breakfast on my return.

Later in the morning, I walked down to the pharmacy that Mei‑li and Laura had taken me to previously. I got some medicated patches for Susan’s back (I asked for Mentholatum patches, using the translated words from my phone, but it appears they gave me something similar but else), ointment for her back, toothpaste, and vitamin C. I made lunch for us from some of the supplies Joy had ordered for us.

Mei‑li had said we could come over about 5:00 this evening, so Susan and I headed that way at the proper time. We arrived just as the nanny was putting Ruby through her bath, so we got to watch that (she seemed to like the warm water), then the process of her having lotion rubbed into her skin before she was dressed again. Susan got to hold her for considerable time; me, not today.

Laura had come over during this process, and she indicated it was time for Susan and me to accompany her to their apartment. Logan fixed another one of his meals (which, today, included duck eggs, tofu, a particular type of soup, thin slices of meat, broccoli, something called bitter melon with a meat filling, and at least one other thing I don’t recall now).

Amber came to join us after she’d eaten with her mother; Kevin got in from work almost exactly at 8:00PM, and at that time I went down to the grocery store on the corner to get larger bottles of soft drinks for me and Susan (and more coffee, she’d used the last packet this morning). Back at the Yins’, I rested and visited for a few minutes of visiting, then we were ready to get back to our own apartment. I had to have Susan carry the bag of groceries on her lap while she navigated with her powered chair, the weight was just too much for me over that distance.

Back ‘home’, we said a Rosary together. I’d sent to Kevin a photo of the directions on the back of the box for the medicated patches, and he found an English version and sent back a photo of that. Susan took a shower, and went on to bed. I got my own issues taken care of, and was ready to prepare for bed myself before 10:30PM.
