Second day in Ireland – June 12 Thursday

We got up at 7:45AM, began making necessary preparations. Our daughter Roni showed up around 8:30, and after a few minutes of visiting we all three went down to breakfast. (Susan’s and my meal was covered in the rental, Roni just had a glass of water.) Then back upstairs for more visiting.

Susan was still feeling a lot of pain from various sources — and all aggravated, of course, by the long day of travel just past — and so Roni and I went out walking to a nearby shopping center, where we bought an electric heating underblanket for Susan, which we settled into place once we returned.

Sometimes Susan dozed, and Roni and I talked. Sometimes she talked with Roni, and sometimes I joined in with that. Roni traded texts with her husband, Conal, and in the early evening he joined us at the hotel. Up in the room we all talked more, and then went downstairs to supper.

I’d not noted how late it got before the sun went down enough for it to get completely dark, so I was surprised when I checked my watch and saw that we were almost to 10:00PM. We talked some more, but eventually left the restaurant and went back upstairs, where there was yet more conversation (closing, this time), and then Roni and Conal left maybe 10:45, maybe a little earlier, maybe slightly later.

Susan took a quick shower, then I helped her re-set the heated underblanket, and we said our daily Rosary together. Some time spent catching my daily notes up to date, then settled in to go to bed myself.
