The bad and the good

We had a few issues while our son was in Vegas. In the first, we pulled our personal vehicle up a bit too far in a parking space, and a flap on the underside caught on the parking block and pulled loose when we backed out, so that it was dragging on the road surface. In the second, I went out to our RV last night to get something, and found that the batteries had drained to the point where nothing electrical was working.
Well, it worked out fine on both issues. The flap was repaired at the Walmart auto center in less than five minutes, for no charge. (I gave the guy $10 for thanks.) The RV engine cranked up without issue, and when we got to the nearest RV park and plugged into shore power, the batteries showed normal charge. I’ll want to test them with a voltmeter after a few hours, to make sure they weren’t damaged, but it appears that the system was designed to shut off after just so long to avoid causing damage.
We got only a few hours with our son yesterday before he had to go to the airport, but that was time we wouldn’t have had otherwise, and Susan sent a lot of stuff with him for Mei-li and Amber. (We learned some time ago that mailing things to China was not only ridiculously expensive but by no means guaranteed to arrive.) We plan to go visit them in China later this year, so this was mostly a chance to touch base before then. And there is more news on the horizon, but I’ll wait a bit before I talk about that here.
After several delays for different reasons, we’ll finally be heading for Tombstone, assuming nothing else comes up in the meantime, so that’s on the schedule as well.
This is us, living the life.
