Where did the idea for the story come from?

Why, my own ego, obviously! A fanfic about a writer of fanfic … not really trying to be subtle here.

Is there any particular significance to the title?

Nope. It is what it is.

What is the thing I like most about this story? the thing I like least, or about which I feel most doubtful?

Liked most: I just really enjoyed the back-and-forth comments from obvious Slayers and Slayer-connected people. I did my best on making the texts sound like the actual characters (both canonical and the ones I invented myself). It was just a lot of fun.

Also, even though I never watched that much Supernatural myself, I knew enough about it that I got a kick of inventing their Diabolical aliases.

Liked least: No single thing I can name — even in retrospect — but ultimately it seems to me that it came across as … well, insubstantial. It’s a decent story but it would have been nice if it could have been a bit more solid.

Is there anything I think I could have done better, or might do differently if I had it to do over?

Only one comes immediately to mind. Some of the text comments were obviously from Spike; in my previous Backstage entries, none of my stories postulating a post- “Chosen” future gave any hints as to whether Spike survived the Angel series-ender. Now I’m stuck with that. Probably no big deal, but I might have preferred to keep my options open.

Do I have any plans to follow up on this story, or to use the character(s) or situation in a subsequent fic?

No immediate plans — though past experience has shown that you never know — but there were internal links to previous stories. Marta and Dorinda (OC Slayers) appeared previously in “Precious Cargo”; Vi’s nickname of ‘Hat Girl’ from “Zero-Sum Game” ties in with the ‘hatgirlvi’ screen name in this story; and the Lund succubus from this story had been previously mentioned in“Just Can’t Kill the Beast”.

Any observations to add at the end?

In all honesty, this fic probably shouldn’t have gone in the Backstage section; I wrote it purely for fun, and it never was intended for anything else. Still, I doubt it will hurt anything where it is. Fun has its own value.
